Privacy Policy for Auslese

Last updated: October 2026

Auslese is an RSS reader for iPhone and iPad. It is designed so that as little data as possible ever leaves your device. The developer runs no servers, and there is no user account.

In short

Data stored on your device

This data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Fetching feeds and websites

To show you articles, Auslese fetches your sources' feeds directly from their publishers. When needed, the app also loads full texts and images from their websites, and links open in an in-app browser. As with any website visit, these publishers technically receive your IP address and the time of the request. Their own privacy policies apply to how they process it. Auslese does not send them any information about you or your other sources.

Cookies and website data from the in-app browser stay on your device. You can remove them under Settings → In-App Browser → "Clear Browser Data".

Summaries ("In Short")

On devices with Apple Intelligence, Auslese creates summaries with the language model that runs on your device. Article texts are not sent to any server for this, not even to Private Cloud Compute. You can turn the feature off in Settings.

iCloud backup and sync (optional)

If you turn on "Back Up to iCloud" or "Sync Between Devices", Auslese stores the following data in your private iCloud database with Apple:

The contents are end-to-end encrypted with CloudKit ("encrypted values"). The developer has no access to them. Apple's iCloud privacy terms apply. You can turn both features off in Settings at any time.

Widget

The briefing widget reads a small excerpt of your briefing from a protected storage area that only Auslese and its widget can access.

Children

Auslese is not directed at children. The content shown comes from the sources you subscribe to yourself.

Changes

If the way the app processes data changes, this policy will be updated. The date at the top shows the current version.
